Erin Freeman begins her third year at the helm of the Panther volleyball program this year. Coach Freeman is looking forward to continue developing the competitive culture of the volleyball program at York in the new 2017 season.
Prior to accepting the head coaching position at York in June of 2015, Coach Freeman was the head coach at Denver Christian high school for 2 years (2013 and 2014). In addition to coaching at Denver Christian, she was also the head coach of the 14-1 and 17-1 teams for Club 5280 in 2013-14, as well as the lead coach for the 12s-14s age groups. In 2014-15, Coach Freeman assisted the 16-2 team at Front Range Volleyball Club, a nationally competitive junior volleyball club (of which she is also an alumni). Freeman began her coaching career years prior, as a high school student, coaching younger players and continued to give lessons throughout her collegiate career. Her head-coaching days began her senior year at JBU, coaching a 15s team for the Ozark Juniors Volleyball Club in the spring of 2013.
As a player, Coach Freeman was a six-rotation, four-year starter at John Brown University as an outside hitter. Over the course of her career at JBU, Freeman recorded 1,491 kills, averaging 3.12/game. She also recorded 1300+ digs, averaging nearly 3/game over the course of her 4 years. Freeman garnered honorable mention, 2nd and 1st team all-conference honors, as well as several all-tournament team awards for various tournaments, and SAC hitter and/or player of the week on numerous occasions. In May of 2013, Coach Freeman graduated from JBU with her bachelor’s in Sports Medicine. She also previously held an ACE Personal Training certification.
Coach Freeman is passionate about sports and young people and enjoys teaching and developing athletes into young women who will be successful and God-honoring beyond their playing years. Erin and her husband, Thomas, reside in York with their sweet puppy, Whiskey.
Kylie looks to join the ranks of the YCVB coaching staff after a great two years as a player at YC. Kylie is finishing her education degree with a history emphasis this fall as a student-teacher at York HS. We are excited to have Kylie's passion for the game continue to impact the YCVB culture! As a player at YC, Kylie was a versatile player for the Panthers and contributed in all aspects of the game. She played on the outside as a junior and in the middle during her senior year. She not only contributed offensively at the net, but as a blocking leader as well. Kylie also contributed often from the service line, as well as in the back row. In her two years at York, Kylie averaged 2 kills/game with a .145 hitting percentage. She contributed 2.45 digs/game and boasted a 96% serving percentage. Kylie received A.I.I. all-conference honorable mention in 2015 and KCAC all-conference honorable mention in 2016.
Before arriving at York, Kylie competed for North Platte CC in her hometown of North Platte, NE.
Kylie's selfless, whatever-the-team-needs attitude established her as a leader from the day she first stepped onto campus. Her work ethic and heart for others will carry her far as a teacher and as a coach. She is both a student and a teacher of the game and will help the continued development of our lady Panthers.
