CRETE - Ian Meek (FR/Montrose, Colo) ran a personal best 27:02 to take first place in a tough field on NAIA runners at the Dean White Invitational Saturday morning. Meek was over 20 seconds in front of second place finisher Michael Shavlik from Doane, even after being routed incorrectly toward the finish line. Meek didn't let that bother him as he helped lead the Panthers to a third place finish as a team.
Steve Lagat (JR/Kenya) was the other top ten finisher for the Panthers as he finished seventh overall with a time of 28:05.
Logan Kaliff (SO/York, Neb) ran 28:41 that as good enough for 16th place overall. The other two scorers for the Panthers were Levi Swenson (SR/Benkelman, Neb) and Cameron Sorter (SR/Seaside, Ore) who finished in 25 and 33, respectively.
The race featured 98 runners from nine different teams. York finished six points out of second place Dordt College. Doane won the overall event with a 34 point advantage.
