LINCOLN - York was shut out for the third straight game as the Prairie Wolves from Nebraska Wesleyan won the midweek matchup 2-0. The Panthers actually tallied more shots on goal, 8-7, but were unable to capitalize on any of them.
Nebraska Wesleyan converted in the 25th minute for the game winning goal by Aaron Onion. The Panthers held strong defensively until the Prairie Wolves got an insurance goal in the 83rd minute.
The Panthers were not short on effort as they had several near miss opportunities, including a shot off the goal post and crossbar. Davi Mendonca (SO/Fortaleza, Brazil) and Matheus Oliveira (JR/Resende, Brazil) each led the Panthers with two shots on goal. Mateus Ramalho (FR/Fortaleza, Brazil) had four shots, one of which was on frame. Bryce Kinsey (JR/Wichita, Kan) picked up the loss in goal as he allowed two goals and had five saves.
York falls to 1-3 on the season and travels to Crete to face Doane University on Sep. 13.
