CRETE - Cameron Sorter (JR/Seaside, Ore) joined the ranks of Panthers breaking school records this past Saturday at the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic. Sorter's fourth place finish posted a school best 4:09 in the 1500 meter run to add his name to the athletes that have rewritten the record books this season.
He wasn't the only runner to rewrite the record books. Dean Simon (SO/Hudson, Fla) once again broke his own school record in the 200 meter dash with his second place finish time of 21.89 seconds. He also finished in first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.78 seconds.
Steve Lagat (SO/Kapsabet, Kenya) now has the school record in the 10K with a time of 33:50 that was good enough for fourth place, and Ashley Dugan (JR/Spring Hill, Fla) placed seventh in the Heptathlon with a school record 3808 points.
Other top performers for the Panthers were:
Mason Held (SO/West Fork, Ark) with a second place finish in the 400 with a time of 48.80 seconds. Levi Swenson (JR/Benkelman, Nebraska) finished the 800 meter run in second place with his time of 1:59.
Joseph Ventry (SR/Omaha, Neb) placed third in the high mump with a jump of 6'6.25".
The men's relay teams were very successful as well.
The 4x100 relay finished in third with both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays each finishing in second place.
The team has this weekend off before heading to McPherson, Kansas on May 4-5 to compete in the KCAC Outdoor Championships.
