YORK - With a single nine-inning game remaining in the series the Panthers took the opportunity to complete the series sweep with a 12-9 win Sunday afternoon. Adam Kimmel (JR/San Ramon, Calif) went six strong innings allowing six runs, five earned, as York's offense again led the way.
Connor Towle (SO/Keller, Texas) had four RBIs as he went 2-for-4 including a two-run homerun in the sixth inning for his seventh of the season. Isaiah Bond (JR/Union City, Calif) added his fifth homerun of the season with a solo shot in the second inning. After the Panthers led 2-0 the Braves took the lead in the fourth inning as they scored three runs on three hits, a walk, and a sacrifice fly.
York answered back in fashion scoring six runs in the fifth inning. Kevin Olmstead (JR/Great Bend, Ore) led off with a double before he scored on a single by DB Vidal (SO/Livermore, Calif). An error allowed Lamar Smith (SR/Rodeo, Calif) to reach on a bunt to load the bases as Timmion Hughes (SR/Vallejo, Calif) was hit by pitch a batter before. Billy Johnson (SR/Oakland, Calif) singled to scoreVidal and Towle earned another RBI when he was hit by pitch with the bases loaded. A sacrifice fly by Bond scored Smith before a single by Cale Anderson (SR/San Francisco, Calif) and a throwing error would score two more runners for the Panthers.
With the win the Panthers improve to 18-12 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
