Leavenworth, Kan. - York College needed a couple big runs to fend off a tough upset-minded Spires team from University of St. Mary. The Panthers jumped out to a 28-10 lead before seeing their lead cut to one at the break. Then after trailing by seven midway through the second half York needed a 14-3 run to put the game away for their fourth consecutive win.
Keith Mack (JR/Chicago, Ill) led the Panthers with 19 points and eight rebounds, followed by Trevor Lenear (JR/Bellevue, Neb) with 17 points. The Panthers used a balanced scoring effort as six players earned double digits.
Kameron Malbrough (FR/Arlington, Texas) had 12 points as he was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. Drelan Triplett and Cameron Coleman (SR/Allen, Texas) each added 11, and Johnny Cooksey (SR/Shreveport, La) had 10.
Both teams struggled offensively shooting under 40% from the field but the Panthers were able to spread the field late and score from inside the paint and from the charity stripe. York shot 72% from the line, while the Spires were below that at 59%.
