Hawkins, Texas - York College opened up their season with a 14-3 win over Jarvis Christian before falling in game two 12-7.
Adam Kimmel (JR/San Ramon, Calif) picked up the win going five innings while striking out five batters. He allowed one run, unearned, before being relieved by Jarrell Cunningham (SR/Susanville, Calif). Nick Carney (SR/Pleasanton, Calif) led the Panthers offensively as he went 3-for-4 including a double and a home run. Billy Damon (JR/Reno, Nev) added a home run as well for York. Timmion Hughes (SR/Vallejo, Calif) picked up two stolen bases after being walked twice.
The Panthers had eight extra base hits in the game.
JC bats were alive in the second game as they put up five runs in the third inning off of Ronnie Reed (JR/Milpitas, Calif) before being relieved by Johnny Hemenes (JR/Brentwood, Calif). Hemenes was chased out of the game after allowing four earned runs. Justin Hukill (SR/Fallbrook, Calif) allowed one earned in two innings and a third.
Offensively the Panthers couldn't move runs across the plate until it was too late. York scored four in the top of the ninth but it was too little too late. York stranded 11 base runners and garnered just seven hits.
