SEWARD - The men's and women's track and field team had a successful day as they compete in their final meet before the KCAC Championships. Several athletes broke program records on Sunday afternoon in a tough indoor meet.
Camery Nielsen broke the school record in the high jump as she cleared 5'1".
Ashley Dugan placed fourth in the long jump as she broke the school record with a leap of 17'5.25". She was just a quarter of an inch out of placing third.
Sabrina Austin set a personal record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.28 seconds.
Ariel Warrior finished in seventh place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:39.
The women's 4x400 meter relay broke the school record with a time of 4:24.40. The members of the team were Darrien Gomez, Austin, Hailey Stigger, and Hannah Rohda.
Dean Simon took first place again in the 60 meter dash and tied the school record with a time of 6.93 seconds. Simon also finished in third place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.00. Carter Price was right behind him in fourth with a time of 23.11.
Mason Held took second place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.43, which broke the school record held by teammate Caleb Magner.
Logan Kaliff completed the 5000 meter run and finished in fourth place.
The men's distance medley relay broke the school record and is currently ranked 16th in the nation. Runners included Levi Swenson, Price, Cameron Sorter, and Steve Lagat.
The men's 4x400 meter relay shattered the previous record and now ranks 7th in the nation. Their time of 3:22.43 qualifies them for the NAIA Indoor Championships. Runners include Evans Francis, Price, Sheyi Ajiboye, and Held.
The track team travels to Pittsburg, Kansas this weekend to compete in the KCAC Championships.
