YORK - York College used a dominating performance on both sides of the ball Monday night to defeat Sterling 100-79. Keith Mack (JR/Chicago, Ill) and Michael Johnson (JR/Orlando, Fla) led all scorers with 18 points a piece.
Defensively the Panthers outrebounded the Warriors 53-34, 22 of which came on the offensive side leading to 22 second chance points.York's tenacious defense forced 15 turnovers and kept the Warriors to just 38% shooting from the field.
Offensively the Panthers shot over 48% from the field. Ball movement was a key as the Panthers racked up 27 assists on 40 field goals. A total of five players for the Panthers scored in double figures. Trevor Lenear (JR/Bellevue, Neb) and Johnny Cooksey (SR/Shreveport, La) each scored 11 points while Cameron Coleman (SR/Allen, Texas) scored 10 points and added eight rebounds, along with five assists. Chris Smith (SO/Dallas, Texas) led the team with seven assists.
York College now owns a two game winning streak and will host Kansas Wesleyan University on Thursday night in the Freeman Center with tip-off at 8 p.m.
