YORK - The Panthers played a tough game Saturday night as they hosted the top team in the conference in Tabor College. York held strong against a team that had only lost one conference game to date, and only three games all year. However, the Bluejays were able to hold off an upset minded Panthers' team 65-52.
Kelsey Sharkey (JR/Lakeview, SD) led all scorers with 15 points. Greer Kleber (SR/Walnut Creek, CA) added 11 points, as they were the only scorers in double figures on the night. After a tough first quarter the Panthers battled to stay within single digits entering the break with a 39-30 score. Tabor started off strong in the third before the Panthers owned the fourth quarter, however, it was not able to make up the difference as they fell by 13 to the 18th ranked team in the nation.
York shot 43% from the field but struggled at the line going 7-for-18 for 39%. The Bluejays out-rebounded the Panthers 37-27.
The Panthers fall to 1-18 on the season and will travel to Bethany College on Wednesday night looking to pick up their second win of the season.
