YORK - A high scoring game made for a lot of excitement for the fans Thursday night in the Freeman Center. York shot 57% from the field as they out ran the Bulldogs 115-103.
McPherson jumped out to an early five point lead before the Panthers went on a 15-2 run to lead 26-15 with 14 minutes remaining in the first half. After a three-point bucket by McPherson the Panthers went on another 15-2 run over the next five minutes of play to build their lead to 41-20. Cameron Coleman (SR/Allen, Texas) led all scorers with 16 points in the first half as the team shot 65%
The Bulldogs were able to make a run late in the game with four minutes to play. McPherson trailed by seven points when the Panthers had a fast break that looked to take the life out of the Bulldogs. However, a missed dunk by Michael Johnson (JR/Orlando, Fla) gave a fast break to the other end and a bucket and the foul gave Aaron Bachura the opportunity for the three point play. After the free throw was made York's lead was down to four. York's defense stepped it up and shut down Bulldogs. York finished the game on a 14-6 run.
Six Panthers scored in double figures led by Coleman's 24 points. Keith Mack (JR/Chicago, Ill) and Johnny Cooksey (SR/Shreveport, La) each scored 20 points, and Johnson, Kameron Malbrough (FR/Arlington, Texas) and Drelan Triplett each added 13 of their own.
Cooksey added eight assists and Triplett led the team with seven rebounds.
York's bench outscored McPherson 41-17. The Bulldogs had a large advantage on the boards as they collected 52 rebounds to just 35 by the Panthers. Twenty-six of those 52 were offensive.
York will be back in action Saturday as they host Bethel College at 5:00 pm in the Freeman Center.
