BARTLESVILLE, Okla - A sluggish first quarter seemed to be the difference in the outcome of Tuesday's midweek conference matchup. York fell behind by 15 points in the first quarter and was never able to battle all the way back as they fell 79-67.
Justine Manjarrez (JR/Montebello, CA) led the Panthers as she scored 21 points off of the bench, including 5-for-7 from the three-point arc. Julissa Vargas (JR/Los Angeles, CA) was the only other Panther to score in double figures as she scored 18. Kendall Fike (FR/Byng, OK) led the Panthers with eight rebounds.
York was able to put together a 9-0 run late in the second quarter to get within eight before the break. Wesleyan made two free thows with seconds remaining to make it a 41-31 game at the break.
To start the second half the Panthers went on an 8-0 run to cut it to 43-39 but that was as close as they could get, as the Eagles pushed their lead back up to double digits.
The Panthers are off until Dec. 30 when they travel to Kearney for an exhibition game against the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
