YORK - Cameron Coleman (SR/Allen, Texas) led the Panthers to a 115-91 victory over Barclay College in front of a homecoming crowd. Coleman finished with 26 points, shooting 12-of-14 from the floor in just 23 minutes of play.
After a few early game jitters the Panthers settled down and took the lead for good after Coleman stole the ball with 16:40 remaining in the first half and converted the fast break layup to go up 10-9. Trevor Lenear (JR/Bellevue, Neb) followed with a three point bucket as the Panthers started to settle in. A 7-0 run put the game at 30-19 before the Panthers kept building onto its lead. York finished the half on a 13-4 run as they scored 69 points in the half and led by 21.
York shot 65% from the field in the first half to the Bears 53%. The second half saw both teams drop their hot shooting as Barclay shot 44%, but the Panthers shot just 35% from the floor. As York controlled the game their offense seemed to settle for more outside shots as they were 4-for-18 from beyond the arc. York's lead grew to 34 points after Kevin Brandenburg (SR/Cincinnati, Ohio) hit a three point basket with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game. The Bears were able to cut the lead down to 23 points with just under a minute remaining, but they would not be able to score again.
Four Panthers finished in double figures led by Coleman. Michael Johnson (JR/Orlando, Fla) scored 20 points coming off of the bench for York. Brandenburg added 14 points and Tre' Howe (SR/Blytheville, Ark) scored 11.
York hosts its annual Tip-Off Classic this weekend and will play Bellevue in their first game of the weekend on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
