YORK - Panther Volleyball invites everyone to turn out for a Black Out Cancer event, Friday, October 21 at 7 p.m. in the Freeman Center. The event will raise funds for the family of a YC student dealing with cancer.
The Panthers will face off against Sterling College. Before the game and between sets, there will be plenty of opportunities for fans to show support for the cause, including a Pledge-Per-Dig effort, says teammate Halie Ewing (SR/Liberty, Mo). "This means that you can pledge to donate a certain amount of money per dig the Panthers get during the game," she said.
"There will be old York jerseys for sale and paper ribbons to hang in memory of a loved one sold for $1 each. During the game, buckets will be passed around for donations and between sets 2 and 3 there will be a serving contest that anyone can enter for a $1 donation," added Ewing.
Coach Erin Freeman reminds fans to come to the game dressed in black to show their support for the cause.
