Salina, Kan - The York College Panthers traveled to Kansas Wesleyan looking for the upset over the Coyotes in their first Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference match. York jumped out to a 21-14 lead in the first game before KWU took a time out. That time out seemed to fuel the fire for the home team as they went on an 11-0 run to take the first game out of the hands of the Panthers.
With the momentum change York was never able to take control in game two as the Coyotes won 25-17. The Panthers did hold the lead early and stuck around as they tied the game eight times but KWU pulled away in the end. The third set found York battling from behind the whole way and couldn't ever put a large enough run together to pull back into it as they fell 25-19. Kansas Wesleyan is currently receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll.
Cassidy Wilson (SO/Moore, Okla) led the Panthers with seven kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Alyssa Didier (SR/Littleton, Colo) and Kylie Wroot (SR/North Platte, Neb) added five kills to the Panther total. Delaney Woods (SR/York, Neb) had 13 digs as Didier added 12. Jole Herzog and Didier each had nine assists to lead the team.
The Panthers have a tough weekend ahead as they travel to Seward, Neb. to play in Concordia's Bulldog Bash. York sits at 1-4 on the season.
