The men's cross country team ran home with the victory as all four of the Panther runners finished in the top five. Brennan Jarvis (JR/Colorado Springs, Colo) led all the participants with his first place finish with a time of 27:33 over the 8k course. Matthew Gastineau (SR/Hershey, Neb), who was battling a cold all week, finished in second place just 14 seconds behind his teammate. Caleb Magner (SO/York, Neb) raced to a fourth place finish and Mason Held (FR/West Fork, Ark) completed the Panthers dominance coming through for the fifth place finish.
Ariel Warrior (SO/Boys Ranch, Texas) led the Lady Panthers to their second place finish as she ran the 5k course in 23:43, which was good enough for 5th. Lindsay Jones (JR/Colorado Springs, Colo) finished in seventh place, followed by Sabrina Austin (SO/Morrill, Neb) and Sierra Trower (SR/Sioux Falls, SD) who finished 10th and 11th, respectively.
Coach Justin Carver was pleased with his teams' results. "This is the first time we've had a full team run on the women's side this season so it was nice to get a strong run and battle down here. The guys battled. We were missing Alejandro Espinoza (FR/Oklahoma City, Okla), our normal number three runner, and Matt was sick all week. The guys stepped up and just dominated the field. I'm really proud of these guys and the effort they put in today."
The Panthers have the week off before they head down to Southwestern College and participate in the Mid-States Classic.
